Hey there,

I admit it feels weird to write two intros per week. So I will keep this one short:

if you are interested in how AI can help you push things forward much faster and better* and how you can build tools for yourself, put yourself on the list by signing up for the free ticket here. We will be organising more events in the future.

*no, not at writing social media posts, because they will suck in any case! And trust me, I am trying for a year.

👀 Jobs

are on a short break, because I am redesigning the whole job board concept. It’s taking shape already and will be much better than before.

Our picks

Nathan Gilmour is a good friend and the second half of our Insider’s Dinner Club project. He has been in gastronomy for years, now a supplier sales lead in his dream job at Saltz, a marketplace for restaurants. Since he’s someone who knows a lot about food, it’s no wonder two of his tips are food-related:

  • Chon Thong - Chon Thong is becoming my go-to place on Kantstraße for extremely reliable Thai - especially their Chicken Rice and fried noodle dishes. It's especially convenient if you have a solo- or movie date next door at Kant Kino (any takers?). Or alternatively, you can go to Madame Ngo and get their knockout spring rolls and slide down to Delphi Lux.

  • The Lovecraft Investigations - Julian Simpson's audio dramas helped me weather the pandemic and have now become my comfort-listens, even in the background. The universe building, the inter-connections, and the weaving of real-world historical fiction is just enthralling. I even went full speed and bought a paid member tier for the new Crowley project on Kickstarter.

  • The Move - Go to Liu early, so there's less of a line, and get the zero-chilli Long ChaoShou and the Zhongshuijiao. The white pepper in the clear broth is so wholesome, and then, IF YOU WANT, you can toss the soup dumplings in the leftover sweet chilli sauce. Get an order of Zajiang or Shengjiao to-go to enjoy cold later on - they're even better that way.

Don't miss what Berlin's talking about

Thousands start their week with my Berlin weekly briefing. News, business, tech & culture you won't find elsewhere. Mondays, 7 AM. Free.

Most popular last Monday:

🌍 From the Community

  • MotionLab.Berlin is leading a delegation of Berlin deep tech startups to Paris and the Hello Tomorrow Summit in Amsterdam, Jun 8–12. Part of the Berlin Goes International programme. Apply by Apr 12.

  • KfW Capital is accepting applications for the KfW Capital Award 2026 in three categories: Best Female VC-Investor, VC-Game Changer, and VC-Exit Excellence. €5,000 per category. Apply by Jul 1.

🧭 Career compass

  1. Signals from Monday: Blacklane sold to Uber for ~€500M [careers]; CNTR launched by Jonas Andrulis (ex-Aleph Alpha) [careers]; TikTok Shop crossed €700M revenue in its first year in Germany [careers].

  2. Here is another confirmation (reddit) that you should always APPLY AS FAST as possible, because recruiters will want to get their 5-10 good candidates as fast as possible.

  3. On the impact of AI: I think Jason Fried is probably right when he says that giving access “to software building tools doesn't mean everyone becomes a builder.” Which means that SaaS is far from dead. And this guy is very often right. (But I still love my own Firefox extension and my new website).

  4. And this fits really well as the next point: if you thought the speed of writing code was your problem, you have bigger problems. Excellent post about bottlenecks, and in most organisations, code was definitely never one.

  5. I randomly found this channel, and I love it. And it really made me think: it’s true, ever since Musk brought that sink into the HQ of Twitter, fun tech jobs went extinct!
